Thanks for any help, I've been working on trying to get this to work for quite a while now and could really use some other suggestions. Has anyone seen this kind of strange behavior before? It almost seems that the printer is reporting that it's a parallel port printer while it's connected via usb. I made sure that usb printer support was built into the kernel. The printer does have both a parallel port and usb connection. Under cups the printer is detected on the parallel port when it's connected via usb.
